Aubameyang confirms Madrid promise

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reiterated his desire to play for Real Madrid but insists he remains happy at the Bundesliga giants.

Aubameyang was on the scoresheet for Dortmund as they fought from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Madrid and secure top spot in their Champions League group in the process.

The 27-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, has previously stated his desire to play for Madrid and also received reported interest from Manchester City in the summer as Pep Guardiola looked to bolster his offensive options.

However, should Aubameyang, who has five years remaining on his existing deal, leave Dortmund he looks destined to move to Spain after dropping more hints about his future in the wake of their draw with the reigning European champions.

“Yes [I still want to play for Real], it’s a promise I made to my grandfather,” he told beIN Sports, via FourFourTwo. “Right now I feel very good at Dortmund but in the future we’ll see.”

Aubameyang has been in sensational form once again for Dortmund this season and is looking to first the first half of the season with as many goals as he managed at this stage last season (18). The Gabon international has three games left before the winter break to score at least three goals, having score more times than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues thus far.
