Chelsea have rekindled their interest in Gonzalo Higuain and hope to use Alvaro Morata as a makeweight to convince AC Milan to cut short his loan deal, claims Sky Italia.
Maurizio Sarri wanted to reunite with Higuain in the summer but the Argentina international opted to join Milan from Juventus instead of Chelsea.
Neither Alvaro Morata nor Olivier Giroud have convinced Sarri during the first four months of the season and Sarri is ready to use the January transfer window to build his dream attack line.
Chelsea are now sounding out the possibility of Higuain cancelling his loan deal with Milan but any transfer will need to green-light from Juventus, who are technically still his parent club.
Sarri is even prepared to use Morata to get a deal over the line and the Spain international has hinted in the past he would like to return to Italy.
Higuain has scored five league goals in 12 appearances for Milan this season but the 31-year-old has not hit the ground running as many at the club were hoping. Furthermore, all of the Argentine’s goals have been clear-cut chances.
