Everton will make a move for Sunderland’s Lamine Kone as a replacement for wantaway centre-back John Stones, reports the Sun.
Manchester City are closing in on a big money move for Stones, with a £50m switch expected to be completed before the transfer window closes.
The Toffees will quickly go about their business replacing the England international with Kone, who impressed on the back of his January switch to Sunderland.
The 27-year-old gained a better WhoScored rating (7.27) than any other Sunderland player last season highlighting his influence at the back as the Black Cats successfully staved off relegation.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has made Kone his priority centre-back replacement for Stones, with a deal for the latter being signed off once the Dutchman has brought in a new defender.
