Burnley set to pip West Ham for £10m-rated midfielder

Burnley have moved ahead in the race to sign Robert Snodgrass after having a £10m bid accepted by Premier League rivals Hull, reports Sky Sports.

Snodgrass is one of the most in-demand players in the January transfer window with up to six Premier League sides reported to be interested in signing the Scotland international.

West Ham have been the club chasing his signature most vigorously this month and have already submitted three bids this month with the latest totalling £8m.

However, the Hammers have been gazumped in their pursuit of Snodgrass after Burnley agreed a £10m fee with Hull, although West Ham are expected to now match that sum.

Hull had hoped to keep their star player this month in order to boost their chances of survival but the writing appeared on the wall when Snodgrass rejected their offer of a new contract around the turn of the year.

Silva’s side still proceeded to trigger a clause in his existing deal to extend his stay by a further 12 months to keep him contracted to the club until the end of next season, but that move now appears to be a move made to retain value in their best player.

Only goals scored by two players have won their side more points in the Premier League this season than Snodgrass (7 points won).
