Brighton consider club-record move for Celtic star

Brighton are weighing up a stunning £20m move for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele in January, reports The Daily Mail.

Chris Hughton broke Brighton’s club transfer record in the summer and now the newly promoted Premier League side are ready to back their manager once again.

The Seagulls have made an impressive start to the season and Hughton wants to increase his side’s chances of beating the drop by prising Dembele away from Celtic.

Dembele has been heavily linked with a high profile move away from Celtic since last season and Brighton are reportedly weighing up whether to test the their resolve with a £20m bid in January.

Brendan Rodgers’ side valued the 21-year-old at £30m over the summer but his stock has dropped slightly since then after struggling with reoccurring muscle injuries this term.

Celtic’s are not under pressure to sell after securing a place in the knockout phase of the Europa League, which means Brighton may not be successful with their opening bid.

Dembele has only managed eight appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season, starting on five occasions. Despite a lack of playing time, he has netted four goals.
