Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick is hoping to convince Robbie Brady to move to the club after the Clarets tabled a £13m bid for the Norwich City star.
Brady has a number of Premier League admirers, with Crystal Palace and West Ham also thought to be keen on the Republic of Ireland international.
Norwich, though, have been holding out for offers of at least £10m before being convinced to sell, with Burnley willing to better that bid in order to secure the services of the 25-year-old.
Hendrick, who has known Brady since they were young, is now hoping for the club to complete a deal for his compatriot.
"For me personally it would be brilliant to have another friend here and I think he would help the squad as well," Hendrick is quoted as saying by the Lancashire Telegraph.
“I text him a lot and talk to him every few days - we grew up together and I have known him since the age of seven - so we have a lot of different conversations.
"He is a great player and everyone is saying how well he's done over the previous few years. But at the end of the day the decision is his - hopefully he will see this [interview] and see how much I want him to come."
