Everton have stepped up their interest in Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius as they sound out a replacement for Tim Howard, reports The Sunday People, via The Daily Mirror.
Howard is returning to MLS at the end of the season and Everton have identified the 22-year-old Mainz goalkeeper as his replacement.
A number of Premier League sides have previously been interested in Karius, but Everton are hopeful of securing a deal for him in the summer.
The German shot-stopper has spent the last two campaigns as Mainz’s undisputed No.1 man between the sticks.
