Middlesbrough have announced they have signed Atalanta midfielder Marten De Roon in a reported £12m deal.
De Roon, 25, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the newly promoted side and joins Viktor Fischer and Bernardo Espinosa as Boro’s summer recruits thus far.
The former Netherlands Under-19 international was thoroughly impressive for Atalanta during his only season at the club last year and Aitor Karanka will hope he can add steel to their midfield.
In fact, only two players completed more tackles and interceptions combined across Europe’s top five leagues last season than De Roon (253).
