Chelsea turn attention to Croat to ease left-back woes

Chelsea are considering a move for VfB Stuttgart's Borna Sosa as they seek to ease their left-back woes reports Sky Sports reporter Marc Behrenbeck.

Chelsea were struck with bad news that Ben Chilwell will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained in their 4-0 Champions League win over Juventus in November.

Marcos Alonso has flattered to deceive when called upon in the absence of Chilwell and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month.

The Blues have been linked with a number of left-backs, including Lucas Digne, who went on to join Aston Villa, and a possible return of Emerson, the Italian currently on loan at Lyon.

Villa were also linked with a move for Sosa, but were priced out of a move for the Croat before the elected to focus their efforts on Digne earlier in January.

VfB Stuttgart are struggling at the wrong end of the Bundesliga table with a five-game winless run leaving them 17th in Germany's top tier, three points off safety and one below the relegation playoff place.
