Key Tottenham man happy at the club

Toby Alderweireld insists he is happy at Tottenham despite ongoing talks over a new contract yet to yield results.

The Belgian is a key member for the north London side, with Spurs understandably keen to tie the centre-back down to a new deal.

Alderweireld’s current contract runs until 2019, while the Belgium international has attracted interest from a host of teams after a series of splendid displays for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Despite a lack of movement over a new deal, however, the 28-year-old is adamant that he is content with life at the club.

"I had a good conversation with the manager. I told him I'm focused on football, to keep my game up and help the team,” Alderweireld, who is on international duty with Belgium, told Sky Sports News.

"That's all I can do. You can see I'm happy there, and I try to help the team, and that's the way I always play football.”

When quizzed if he has been offered a new contract by Tottenham, Alderweireld replied: "No, like I said, I am focused on football. The rest, I don't know, we will see about that."

Alderweireld has once again made a fine start to the season and has played more accurate long balls (60) than any other Premier League outfielder.
