France international Moussa Sissoko has revealed he considered leaving Newcastle United this summer, according to France Football.
The 25-year-old has previously been linked with a move away from St. James’ Park, but admits there was interest from other clubs over the last few months.
When asked if he had received offers this summer, Sissoko told France Football: “Yes I did. There were clubs – but Newcastle vetoed.
“There have been discussions [over the summer] with the club, who said they were against my departure, so I stayed.”
The Magpies signed the energetic midfielder from Toulouse in January 2013 and since then only Raheem Sterling (367), Yannick Bolasie (377) and Eden Hazard (511) have attempted more dribbles than Sissoko (347).
Additionally, the French midfielder has made at least 74 more key passes than any of his Newcastle teammates since his arrival (121).
