Thiago close to new Bayern Munich deal

Bayern Munich are close to agreeing a new contract extension with Spanish midfielder Thiago, claims German outlet Kicker.

Thiago's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2021 and there have been suggestions Bayern would listen to offers for the midfielder at the end of the current campaign.

Despite Thiago's brilliance, there is a feeling the Spain international is undervalued in the Bundesliga and a summer exit could be on the cards.

However, it has now emerged Bayern have made securing his immediate future their next priority after recent deals to head coach Hansi Flick and Thomas Muller.

Bayern are reportedly in advanced talks with Thiago's camp about a two-year extension securing the 28-year-old's future until the summer of 2023.

Thiago has spent the last seven years at Bayern after leaving Barcelona to join the Bundesliga giants in 2013 and he would not be short of suitors if made available for transfer.

Of players that have made at least 10 Bundesliga appearances this season, Thiago averages the most passes per 90 (91) in the division.

Moreover, of players that have attempted at least 50 dribbles in one of Europe's top five leagues this season, Thiago has the best success rate (87%).
