Team News

Valenciennes
Caen
  • Both Jose Saez and Gael Danic could miss the last day of the season with calf injuries, both have missed training all week and are big doubts.
  • Also missing are Gregory Pujol, Kenny Lala and Jean-Louis Leca.
  • Pierra-Alain Frau will miss the final game with an Achilles problem. Yannick Mbone has taken the veteran's place in the squad.
  • There is a doubt over Romain Hamouma, his knee has not fully recovered from tendinitis but Franck Dumas needs him for the most important match of the season.
  • Lenny Nangis, Branko Lazarevic are missing through injury.

Prediction

  • This is the only game were both teams could possibly go down. Valenciennes would be devastated to go from 12th to 18th on the last day but only two points clear of Ajaccio, it could happen. Of course every team below them would have to win, when you consider the six teams below them have a combined total of 9 wins in 36 games, this is a very remote possibility.
  • It’s quite simple for Caen, win and you stay in Ligue 1, draw and your fate is not in your hands. This is the second year in a row both of these teams have had to fight for survival on the final day. Last season Caen won a spirited point against Marseille and lived to fight another day, this is that day.
