Team News

Dundee FC
Motherwell
  • Dundee manager Tony Docherty made two changes from the Dee team that hammered Hibs 4-1 at Dens Park, before they played out a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park at the weekend.
  • Jon McCracken replaced Trevor Carson in goal, who was missing from the Dee's matchday squad. Billy Koumetio and Antonio Portales were joined by Ryan Astley as opposed to Clark Robertson in the Dee's defence.
  • Finlay Robertson kept his place at left wing-back as Jordan McGhee continued on the right. Mo Sylla, Lyall Cameron and Josh Mulligan remained in the middle of the park with Simon Murray and Seb Palmer-Houlden in attack.
  • Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell named two changes to the Steelmen side after their return to action was spoiled as they lost 2-1 to Ross County in Dingwall, before they were blown away 3-0 at Fir Park by Hibernian on Saturday afternoon.
  • Aston Oxborough remained in goal behind Dan Casey, Kofi Balmer and Liam Gordon. Marvin Kaleta and Ewan Wilson started at right wing-back and left wing-back respectively as Andy Halliday and Lennon Miller continued in the middle of the park.
  • Tom Sparrow, who netted what proved the winner against Saints, is the latest Well player to be on the treatment table so Davor Zdravkovski took his place in midfield. Tawanda Maswanhise replaced Steve Seddon to lead the line along Apostolos Stamatelopoulos.

Prediction

  • Seventh hosts fifth as Dundee take on Motherwell at Dens Park in this midweek meeting, with the Dee trailing the Steelmen by three points but having played a match more.
  • Dundee missed out on the chance to win successive Scottish Premiership matches against Kilmarnock for the first time since August 2015, where they won three on the spin against Killie. A point on the road wasn't a bad result, despite being 10 minutes away from doubling their away victory tally. 10 of their 16 Premiership points have come at Dens and they'll want to add to that here.
  • Motherwell had lost just one of their previous six Scottish Premiership meetings with Hibernian, before the Hibees blew them away 3-0 at Fir Park as the Steelmen's solid recent run against Hibs came to an end. The Well have won as many matches away from home as they've lost (3) and they've scored the exact same amount of goals as they've conceded on the road in six matches (9).
  • Dundee won their previous league meeting with Motherwell 1-0 at Fir Park and, given the Well have suffered back-to-back defeats, the Dee will fancy sneaking past the Steelmen in midweek too.
