Team News

Aberdeen
Celtic
  • Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin named six changes to the Dons team after their mental midweek match, a 3-3 draw with Hibs at Easter Road, before a second consecutive share of the spoils as they drew 1-1 with Hearts on Sunday.
  • Dimitar Mitov continued in goal - but was brought off through injury - behind the back four of James McGarry, replacing Jack MacKenzie at left-back, Gavin Molloy, Angus MacDonald, in for Slobodan Rubezic, and Nicky Devlin. Club captain Graeme Shinnie made way in midfield.
  • Ante Palaversa joined Sivert Nilsen in the middle of the park at Tynecastle. Shayden Morris and goalscorer Leighton Clarkson replaced Duk and Topi Keskinen, to join Jamie McGrath in support of the sole striker. Ester Sokler took Kevin Nisbet's spot in the Aberdeen attack in Edinburgh at the weekend.
  • Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers shuffled the pack, making six changes to the Celts side that was held at home by Club Brugge in their Champions League midweek match in a 1-1 draw at Parkhead, before a 5-0 victory over Ross County.
  • Kasper Schmeichel continued in goal for the weekend win, behind a back four of Alex Valle, replacing Greg Taylor at left-back, Liam Scales, taking Auston Trusty's place at centre-back, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston.
  • Captain Callum McGregor kept his place as Arne Engels and Reo Hatate made way for Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan. Midweek goalscorer Daizen Maeda was joined by James Forrest, as opposed to Nicholas Kühn, in support of Adam Idah who replaced Kyogo Furuhashi in attack.

Prediction

  • The Scottish Premiership's current top two teams go head-to-head in this midweek meeting, as Aberdeen host Celtic at Pittodrie.
  • Aberdeen have been punished twice in the capital, after a crazy 3-3 draw at Easter Road against Hibs was succeeded by a share of the spoils at Tynecastle versus Hearts where the Dons will be disappointed at dropped points from winning positions. Having rescued a point at Parkhead in their 2-2 draw, coming from two down, they'll look to go head-to-head with the Hoops again here.
  • Celtic annihilated Aberdeen 6-0 at Hampden in the Scottish League Cup semi-final this season, and head north after hammering Ross County 5-0 at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon. The Hoops have conceded just twice on their travels in the Scottish Premiership so far - the fewest of any team in the division - and have won all seven away league games where they've scored 22 goals.
  • Aberdeen have won all seven of their Scottish Premiership matches at Pittodrie so far this season, but Celtic will want to prove that they're a cut above the Dons and extend the gap at the top of the table.
