- Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named two changes to the Terrors team that held Celtic to a goalless draw at Tannadice, before coming from behind on Boxing Day to beat St Johnstone 2-1 in Perth.
- Jack Walton continued in goal behind the incoming Emmanuel Adegboyega, Kevin Holt and Declan Gallagher, who was sent off against Saints, as Miller Thomson moved onto the bench. Ryan Strain and Will Ferry started at right wing-back and left wing-back respectively.
- Richard Odada made his first Scottish Premiership start in place of Luca Stephenson in midfield, joining Vicko Sevelj. Glenn Middleton, who grabbed the equaliser, joined Kai Fotheringham in support of McDiarmid Park matchwinner Sam Dalby.
- Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin named four changes to the Dons team that lost 3-1 to Hibernian at Pittodrie despite taking the lead, before a Boxing Day battering at the hands of Kilmarnock as they lost 4-0 at Rugby Park.
