Team News

Dundee FC
St. Johnstone
  • Dundee manager Tony Docherty made four changes from the Dee team that blew a two goal-lead as Kilmarnock in a 3-2 defeat at Dens, before a much-needed away victory over Motherwell by a sole goal at Fir Park last Saturday afternoon.
  • Jon McCracken made way for Trevor Carson to start in goal. Ryan Astley replaced Antonio Portales at the back, as he joined Clark Robertson and Billy Koumetio in the Dee defence. Ziyad Larkeche and Ethan Ingram continued as the wing-backs.
  • Mo Sylla was suspended and Scott Tiffoney dropped to the bench as Finlay Robertson and Scott Fraser took their places to join the matchwinner Lyall Cameron in midfield. Simon Murray partnered Curtis Main up front.
  • Saints made two changes in personnel after their 2-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox before the international break, as a change in shape resulted in a change of fortunes as they beat Ross County 3-0 at McDiarmid Park last weekend.
  • Andre Raymond, Jack Sanders, Lewis Neilson and Drey Wright made up the back four behind Ross Sinclair in goal. Aaron Essel made way for Jason Holt to join Matt Smith and Sven Sprangler in the trio of midfielders sat in front of the back four.
  • Nicky Clark supported Benji Kimpioka - who bagged a brace against the Staggies on Saturday - and the incoming Adama Sidibeh. He replaced Makenzie Kirk who bagged Saints' third off the bench, and could push to start in this one.

Prediction

  • Two points separate Dundee and St Johnstone at this stage of the Scottish Premiership season, as they meet at Dens Park this weekend.
  • Dundee ended their away day woes last time out, having won just one of their last 11 Scottish Premiership matches on their travels (a 2-1 victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park back in March) before the weekend win over Motherwell at Fir Park. The Dee have won their last two league matches against Saints, after the two teams drew the first meeting last season 2-2 in Perth.
  • St Johnstone were the only side yet to pick up a home point in the Scottish Premiership, after losing their opening trio of matches, before their emphatic 3-0 victory over Ross County on Saturday. They avoided joining St Mirren (2014/15), Dundee (2018/19) and Dundee United (2022/23) as the only sides to have lost their opening quartet of Scottish Premiership home matches since 2013.
  • Both teams won just their second league match last weekend, but Dundee have had the bragging rights over St Johnstone recently and will hope that can continue this weekend.
