Team News

Hibernian
Hearts
  • Hibernian manager David Gray named two changes to the Hibs team that lost 2-1 to Motherwell at Easter Road before the international break, before a late collapse at Tannadice saw them lose 3-2 to Dundee United on Saturday afternoon.
  • Josef Bursik continued in goal behind an unchanged back four of Lewis Miller, Marvin Ekpiteta, Warren O'Hora and Jordan Obita. Hyeok-Kyu Kwon was joined by Joe Newell as opposed to Nectarios Triantis, who was sent off against the Well, in midfield.
  • The only other alteration saw Rudi Molotnikov join Junior Hoilett and Chris Cadden in support of lone striker Mykola Kukharevych. Dwight Gayle came off the bench to fire the Hibees in front against United, so could be handed a start against Hearts.
  • Neil Critchley named four changes after his Hearts dugout debut ended in a resounding 4-0 victory over St Mirren at Tynecastle on Saturday, before they swept past Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia 2-0 in Edinburgh on Thursday night.
  • Craig Gordon continued in goal behind Kye Rowles and Frankie Kent at centre-back. Adam Forrester took Daniel Oyegoke's place at right-back as Stephen Kingsley replaced James Penrice at left-back for their Europa Conference League match.
  • Cammy Devlin took Beni Baningime's place to partner Malachi Boateng in midfield. Alan Forrest, who opened the scoring in midweek with a superb strike, took Yan Dhanda's place on the flank. Fellow goalscorer Blair Spittal and Kenneth Vargas supported Lawrence Shankland in attack.

Prediction

  • The bottom two teams in the Scottish Premiership meet in a capital city clash, as Hibs host Hearts at Easter Road on Sunday lunchtime.
  • Hibernian's away day woes continued, winning just one of their last 14 away league outings (a 3-1 victory over St Johnstone back in April), after they somehow threw three points away at Tannadice versus Dundee United. The weekend loss, coupled with their city rivals' first league win of the season, saw them fall to the bottom of the Premiership pile so the only way is up for Hibs.
  • Hearts will be confident after back-to-back wins without conceding a goal, as a 4-0 success over St Mirren (their first league victory) was succeeded with a comfy 2-0 victory over Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia as they made it two wins from as many Europa Conference League matches. The Jambos didn't lose to Hibs last season so will want to keep their decent recent derby run going.
  • Hibs haven't had the bragging rights over Hearts for a wee while so, despite the Jambos playing in midweek, the Hibees could be disappointed on derby day after defeat last weekend.
