Team News

Hearts
Kilmarnock
  • Hearts boss Neil Critchley named three changes after the Jambos made it two wins from as many Europa Conference League matches with a win against Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia, before a 1-1 draw in the Edinburgh derby on Sunday.
  • Craig Gordon continued in goal behind Kye Rowles and Frankie Kent at centre-back. Daniel Oyegoke took Adam Forrester's place at right-back as James Penrice replaced Stephen Kingsley at left-back for the derby against Hibs at Easter Road.
  • Cammy Devlin partnered Malachi Boateng in the middle of the park. Yan Dhanda came in to join Blair Spittal in support of strike duo Kenneth Vargas and Lawrence Shankland at the weekend.
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named an unchanged Killie eleven after a sole goal was enough to nick all three points against Rangers, before they blew a lead up in the Highlands as Ross County came from behind to beat ten-men Killie 2-1.
  • Robby McCrorie continued in goal behind a back four of Corrie Ndaba, Stuart Findlay, Robbie Deas and Lewis Mayo. Brad Lyons and Liam Donnelly, who was sent off on Saturday in Dingwall, remained in the middle of the park.
  • Matty Kennedy and Danny Armstrong provided the width on the flanks. Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins, who netted the late winner against Rangers, lead the line at the weekend too.

Prediction

  • Two of this season's bottom four, which were in last season's top four, meet in Edinburgh as Hearts host Kilmarnock with the two teams going toe-to-toe at Tynecastle.
  • Hearts have picked up twice as many Scottish Premiership points (4) in their last two league matches, as they did in their previous eight games (2). A dream dugout debut for the new boss in their last home league match was succeeded by a European triumph, then a derby draw so the Jambos want to get back to winning ways after beating Kilmarnock in two competitions last season.
  • After a stuttering start for Kilmarnock, they had won back-to-back league matches heading into the weekend. Despite taking the lead in Dingwall, Killie blew a great chance to win three Scottish Premiership matches on the spin within the same season for the first time since October 2020. They failed to beat Hearts last season, losing in both the league and League Cup, drawing with them in three of four league meetings.
  • Hearts and Kilmarnock drew in three of five meetings in all competitions last season, the Jambos winning the other two in Ayrshire, so a share of the spoils in Edinburgh wouldn't be surprising.
