Team News

Hearts
St. Mirren
  • Liam Fox named six changes from Hearts claiming their first victory of the season in Azerbaijan as they beat Belarusian champions Dinamo Minsk 2-1, before his spell as interim manager came to an end after a 3-2 defeat away to Aberdeen.
  • Daniel Oyegoke replaced Adam Forrester at right-back, with Frankie Kent and Kye Rowles continuing at centre-back, as Stephen Kingsley took James Penrice's place at left-back. Cammy Devlin and Beni Baningime dropped out of midfield.
  • Malachi Boateng and Jorge Grant, who was sent off against the Dons, came into the middle of the park. Barrie McKay and Alan Forrest made way for Yan Dhanda and Kenneth Vargas to support lone striker Lawrence Shankland at Pittodrie.
  • St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson made three changes after the Buddies lost 2-1 away to Motherwell at Fir Park, before a sole goal was enough for Dundee United to leave Paisley with three points before the international break.
  • Scott Tanser was suspended and Elvis Bwomono dropped out, as Saints shifted to a back four of Richard Taylor, the incoming Charles Dunne, Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser.
  • Roland Idowu joined Killian Phillips, Caolan Boyd-Munce and club captain Mark O'Hara in midfield. Kevin van Veen joined Toyosi Olusanya up front, in place of Mikael Mandron.

Prediction

  • Heart of Midlothian and St Mirren meet for the second time in the Scottish Premiership this season already, after the Buddies beat Hearts in Paisley last month.
  • Neil Critchley takes charge of Hearts for the first time, after the former Blackpool and QPR manager succeeds Steven Naismith as the Jambos gaffer with defeat to St Mirren proving the final straw. The Jambos are the only Scottish Premiership side yet to win a league match this season, so the objective is simple - pick up points before it's too late and try to ascend up the league table.
  • Since the start of April, only St Johnstone (10) have lost more Scottish Premiership matches than St Mirren (9). The Buddies had won their last two matches against newly-promoted Scottish Premiership opposition, but defeat to Dundee United means the last time they won three on the spin was back in November 2012. Saints have to start cutting out losing points from winning positions.
  • Despite St Mirren's success over Hearts in September, the Jambos are under new guidance and they will hope that's enough to see them beat the Buddies at home to claim that elusive first league win.
