Team News

Kilmarnock
Celtic
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named two changes to the Killie team that continued their fine recent run against Hearts at Tynecastle and won 2-1, before they blew a two goal lead at Dens Park to lose 3-2 to Dundee last Sunday.
  • Robby McCrorie remained in goal behind a back four of Corrie Ndaba, Stuart Findlay, who was stretchered off and will face a significant spell on the sidelines through injury, Robbie Deas and Lewis Mayo.
  • Matty Kennedy and Danny Armstrong continued to provide the width on the flanks as David Watson accompanied Brad Lyons in the middle of the park. Kyle Vassell, who netted the midweek winner in Edinburgh, was joined by Bruce Anderson in attack instead of Marley Watkins.
  • Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers named just one change to the Celts side that annihilated Aberdeen 6-0 at Hampden in the Scottish League Cup semi-final before an impressive 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
  • Kasper Schmeichel continued in goal, behind a back four of birthday boy Greg Taylor - who replaced Alex Valle at left-back - Auston Trusty, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston.
  • Captain Callum McGregor, Arne Engels and goalscorer Reo Hatate were chosen as the midfield trio. Daizen Maeda and Nicholas Kühn, who bagged a brace on Tuesday night, supported Kyogo Furuhashi in attack.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's Scottish Premiership top four meet on Sunday afternoon, as Kilmarnock host Celtic at Rugby Park.
  • Kilmarnock spurned a glorious chance to record back-to-back top-flight victories over Dundee at Dens Park for the first time since December 2003, as Dundee did to Killie what Kilmarnock did to the Dee and turned a two-goal deficit on its head. Despite losing their last Rugby Park meeting 5-0 to the Hoops in May, Killie did beat Celtic twice at home last season, in three Ayrshire matches.
  • Celtic reasserted their domestic dominance, as they dished out a Hampden hammering to nearest challengers Aberdeen, bringing the Dons back down to earth with a 6-0 thumping. But their midweek win was arguably even more impressive, as RB Leipzig left Glasgow with their tails between their legs as the Hoops have won back-to-back Champions League matches at Celtic Park.
  • Killie gave Celtic a few bloody noses at Rugby Park last year, but the Hoops recently proved they're a cut above everybody else in Scotland so should bring three points back to Glasgow.
