Team News

Dundee United
Ross County
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named one change to the Terrors team that lost 2-1 to Motherwell in their match last midweek, before they left it late to grab a controversial point at Easter Road against Hibernian in a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal behind a back three of Kevin Holt, Declan Gallagher and Emmanuel Adegboyega. Will Ferry remained at left wing-back and Ryan Strain was handed a first Scottish Premiership start for United at right wing-back.
  • David Babunski and Vicko Sevelj were given the nod in the middle of the park. Glenn Middleton and Luca Stephenson, who pushed higher up in place of Kristijan Trapanovski, supported Sam Dalby who has scored two goals in two games and three in four.
  • Ross County boss Don Cowie made three changes after the Staggies were held at home by Hibernian in a goalless draw in Dingwall last Wednesday night, before another stalemate with the same scoreline away to St Mirren on Saturday.
  • Ryan Leak was ill, so Elijah Campbell moved to join Akil Wright and Kacper Lopata as the trio of County centre-backs behind Ross Laidlaw in goal. James Brown kept his place at right wing-back but Josh Reid returned at left wing-back.
  • Club captain Connor Randall was joined by Josh Nisbet - replacing Aidan Denholm - and Noah Chilvers in the middle of the park. Jack Grieves partnered Jordan White in attack, as top scorer Ronan Hale was sat amongst the substitutes in Paisley.

Prediction

  • Four points separate Dundee United in fourth and Ross County in ninth, as the Scottish Premiership table starts to take shape after the first round of fixtures.
  • Dundee United missed out on the chance to win three Scottish top tier matches in a row against Hibernian for the first time since August 2012. But their decent recent record at Easter Road continued as United haven't lost in seven games versus the Hibees in Edinburgh since defeat in November 2012. Back in front of their own fans, the Terrors will want to get back to winning ways.
  • Ross County's away day woes continued, as the Staggies haven't won in their last 22 away Scottish Premiership matches which is the longest winless streak away from home in the competition this century. Not since a 1-0 win at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock in September 2023 have County been victorious on their travels, and they'd love to put an end to that record this weekend.
  • Ross County have won two of their last three league meetings against Dundee United, but the Terrors should claim a first win at Tannadice against the Staggies since December 2022 here.
