Team News

Portsmouth
Sunderland
  • Defensive lynchpin Conor Shaughnessy missed the Middlesbrough game with a minor injury and remains a doubt for the visit of Sunderland on Saturday.
  • Expect one change to the side that turned out at the Riverside Stadium with new signing Harvey Blair making his full league debut.
  • Dan Ballard and Alan Browne should both return to the starting XI on Saturday with the latter doing so in place of the suspended Dan Neil.
  • New striker Wilson Isidor could make his first appearance, although this will likely come from the bench.

Prediction

  • Portsmouth made it three draws from three games upon their return to the second tier when they held off the threat of Middlesbrough, despite facing 30 shots on goal during the match. John Mousinho's men are still waiting for a first league win, although that is unlikely to arrive here against a fast-starting Sunderland side.
  • Regis Le Bris has enjoyed a better start to life at Sunderland than he could have ever imagined. The Black Cats' youthful squad is gelling nicely, and they head into gameweek four with maximum points and no goals conceded. With no Carabao Cup duties to complete, the visitors are fully rested ahead of their trip to Fratton Park.

  • Four weeks in a row now Bilcao. Pls keep predicting against Sunderland

  • It seems I underestimated Portsmouth, but still believe they are in a honeymoon period. Are Sunderland really contenders? I go 0-0 just because I’m not sure of either!
