Team News

St. Mirren
Hearts
  • St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson named an unchanged Saints side as they won 3-1 at Dens Park against Dundee, before the Buddies were beaten 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock who they were challenging for fourth place.
  • Zach Hemming continued behind an unchanged back three of James Bolton, Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser. Scott Tanser and Ryan Strain carried on at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.
  • Club captain Mark O'Hara and Caolan Boyd-Munce remained in the middle of the park. The only change before the Dundee victory saw Greg Kiltie drop to the bench, as Toyosi Olsuanya joined Conor McMenamin and Mikael Mandron in attack.
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith named three changes to the Jambos' eleven after they secured third place despite being swept aside 3-0 at Celtic Park against the league leaders, before beating Dundee at Tynecastle by the same scoreline on Saturday.
  • Craig Gordon claimed just a second Scottish Premiership start of the season in goal, replacing Zander Clark, as the Jambos kept a 16th league clean sheet. Frankie Kent and Jorge Grant dropped onto the bench as Hearts changed shape.
  • Incoming duo Alan Forrest and Barrie McKay started on the flanks, as Beni Baningime and Cammy Devlin continued in midfield. Kenneth Vargas started alongside Lawrence Shankland in attack, and both scored last time out.

Prediction

  • St Mirren are looking to secure a fifth place finish in the Scottish Premiership, and host a Hearts team that are home and hosed in third spot.
  • The Buddies will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat which saw Kilmarnock seal fourth place in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday. However, if Rangers get the better of Dundee at Ibrox as they're expected to in the sole league game taking place on Tuesday, Saints secure fifth spot regardless of what happens at home to Hearts on Wednesday night in Paisley.
  • Hearts head through west after a dominant display and routine victory over Dundee at Tynecastle at the weekend, securing their 20th win in 36 Scottish Premiership games played this season. It's been a cracking campaign for the men in maroon, who are looking to break the 70 point barrier in Scotland's top tier, as they look to prepare for European group-stage football next season.
  • St Mirren won the first league meeting between these two teams back in September, but Hearts have beaten the Buddies home and away in the league since then and the Jambos will hope to carry on their superb away form.
