Team News

Motherwell
Livingston
  • Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell named an unchanged Steelmen side after the Well missed out on the top six thanks to a 1-1 draw with Hibs at Fir Park, before a sole goal defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie last Saturday.
  • Liam Kelly stuck between the sticks as Shane Blaney, Paul McGinn and Dan Casey continued in an unchanged Well back three. Georgie Gent carried on at left wing-back, with Stephen O'Donnell remaining on the right.
  • Lennon Miller took Andy Halliday's place to join Davor Zdravkovski at the heart of the Motherwell midfield. Blair Spittal looked to provide for strike duo Jack Vale - who was sent off against Aberdeen so misses this match - and Theo Bair.
  • Livingston manager Davie Martindale made just one enforced change after the Lions spurned a two goal lead to lose 4-2 at Tynecastle against Hearts, before clinching a 2-0 victory over Ross County in West Lothian last weekend.
  • Shamal George continued in goal behind an unchanged back four of Sean Kelly, Ayo Obileye, Mikey Devlin and Michael Nottingham. Jamie Brandon, Scott Pittman and Stephen Kelly - who bagged a brace in Edinburgh - continued in midfield.
  • They were joined by Jason Holt as Scott Pittman moved to the right flank. Daniel MacKay was out on the left, supporting lone striker Bruce Anderson. He replaced Tete Yengi, after he was sent off against the Jambos not even on the field of play.

Prediction

  • Ninth hosts twelfth, as Motherwell take on Livingston with the Steelmen safe but the Lions languishing at the foot of the Scottish Premiership table.
  • The Well will be disappointed that their rotten recent run against Aberdeen continued, as the Steelmen have now lost five of their last six meetings with the Dons - the exception being the 3-3 draw in which Motherwell threw away such a commanding position at Pittodrie back in February. They hadn't lost three times in the same Scottish Premiership season to Aberdeen since 2016/17.
  • Livingston kept their small hopes of Scottish Premiership survival alive, following a 2-0 victory at home to Ross County, in just their fourth league win of the season. The Lions had won three matches pre-split and need to win at least another three as they trail the Staggies by nine points. If County better Livi's result at home to Hibs, then they will be relegated to the Championship.
  • After losing 2-0 in West Lothian in the first league meeting in October, Motherwell have won their last two matches against Livingston 3-1 so should have enough for a third successive win against the Lions this weekend.
