  • This site shows again how little the ratings actually mean in reality. Sane was the best Bayern player in the first half and created basically both goals for Bayern, yet his rating is the worst of all non defenders with just 6.9. Musiala on the other hand did practically nothing compared to Sane and gets a rating of 7.1. This doesn't make any sense. The site is good for looking at stats but the rating system is utter crap.

  • @neumi17 why you care about the ratings? if you dont like them dont even look at them

  • @neumi17 @neumi17 in defence of the ratings (and saying this as someone who didn't see the whole game), Musiala led Sane in key passes 3-1, dispossessed 1-3, interceptions 3-1, had way more touches, and significantly better passing accuracy. I would guess Sane's key pass was the pre-assist for the goal, but I'm not sure what the algorithm does when someone wins a penalty.

  • @neumi17 well obviously

  • Arsenal with an xG of only 1.18 vs Bayern with 2.09. The gunners didn't show much gunpowder in the game, pretty harmless attacks.

  • @neumi17 Too bad xG does not matter at all.

  • @Sputnik To bad Arsenal didn't destroy Bayern as you had hoped.

  • @neumi17 they dominated them in territory.

  • @neumi17 The tie's not over, you know that, right? If I were a Bayern fan, I would have been calm if it were let's say 2014 and they got this result at the Emirates Stadium. However, it is 2024, so hold on to your shorts. There will be drama next week.

  • Yeah I liked the match Arsenal started strongly but then 2 incredible mistakes from the defenders and the keeper and match turned uphill. Draw is a fair result but I doubt about Arsenal win the serie, much more at away. I wish I was wrong.

  • @dib It's still a close contest, but I do favour Bayern's experience compared to this relatively young Arsenal side. + BM only has to focus on UCL while Arsenal is still in a 3-way tie for 1st basically. One thing for sure, both this matchup and the RM-MC one could have easily been in the Semi-finals, draw kinda screwed all 4 on this side of the bracket. The quality of these matches were insane, and it's only the 1st leg.

  • Lol at TNT analysts talking about a "sure" penalty at the end. Saka literally runs into Neuer and throws himself. Would have been an insanely soft penalty.

  • @DanInter As insanely soft as Sane's was?

  • @DanInter Agree with you, not penalty. perhaps Saka dived into the keeper zone thinking about that outrageous foul made by Neuer in the WCup 2014 where he hurt Higuain thanks a "kung fu" kick. That time he avoided to be sent off, perhaps that was the purpose of Saka at that moment. I'm kidding I'm kidding :) but I swear that incident came back to my memory right away when I saw that acting by Saka.

  • @DanInter correct. He runs into keeper and acted like he wass fouled by Neuer

  • The favouritism by bookies when it comes to EPL teams is quite something have to say. Don't remember the exact pre-game odds (tho I think they were similar), but at 1:1 they legit offered 1.67 for Arsenal win and 2+ for X2. Obviously Arsenal might still win it despite the 1:2 scoreline, but underestimating a team as Bayern, just because they aren't 1st domestically is pretty wild. Same with the RM-City matchup, pre-game the "qualify for next round" odds were around 1.45 for MC. They might be favourites overall, but we talking Real Madrid not some random 2nd/3rd team from one of the top leagues.

  • @DanInter Pre game odds were 1.67 - 4 - 4.8

  • @stuckonautomatic Thanks. Funnily enough with Bayern actually being up a goal at 65th min you had the exact same odds for them. Telling you, bookies really follow the "best league in the world" trend.

  • @DanInter Which is funny because it is definitely not the best league in the world.

  • @Sputnik which one is?

  • @wilde LaLiga, obviously. Don't even give me the example of this year's PL title race. Yes, it's interesting, but that's an exception, not a pattern.

  • @Sputnik Lol, LaLiga. I have a totally outlandish idea: Why not just look at the relative strength of leagues by taking their performance in UEFA competitions into account? And no matter whether you take UEFA club coefficients or even elo ratings, or just count the wins, draws and losses, the EPL is far ahead of LaLiga, Seria A and Bundesliga. Even though I almost always hope for EPL clubs to lose (except when they play against RM), there's no denying the EPL is the strongest league. Just this season in CL,EL,ECL: EPL 39 wins, 8 draws, 16 losses LaLiga: 28 wins, 13 draws, 16 losses Last season: EPL: 48-14-12 LaLiga: 33-15-20 Or just look at the H2H between clubs from both leagues in the last seasons: 2023-24: 2-2-0 (EPL wins, draws, LaLiga wins) 2022-23: 7-3-6 2021-22: 10-3-5

  • @stuckonautomatic Last 10 seasons. LaLiga teams: 13 European trophies. Premier League teams: 6 European trophies. Your argument is invalid. Also, out of these finals, every single time it has been contested between an English team and a Spanish team, the Spanish team has won. Last but not least, the only 2 good English teams right now have Spanish coaches. Burn!

  • @Sputnik 1. how are the last 10 seasons' results related to what the best league is right now? 2. how is the nationality of the teams' coaches related to what the best league is? 3. how do you decide which league is the best right now beyond who's won the most european trophies in the last 10 years (which has no sense)? competitiveness could be a good one, but for me recent european placements and h2h results would be the most relevant. there wasnt even a laliga team in the final last season, best laliga team got destroyed by best PL team, more PL teams in KOs, 2nd best laliga team not even close to SF. laliga had maybe the best peak ever as you say and if we talked back then you could bring this up but right now results are NOT in your favor, its actually kind of funny your "argument is invalid" and have to go back like that in a discussion on the current best league. i can concede if at least the best laliga team beats the best PL team in this seasons UCL, we'll see about that.

  • @Icarax 1) If "right now" means this season, then you're giving the example I asked the other guy not to give. It's a dumb example, since such a title race in the PL is a very rare event. 2) They are of that nationality, therefore they represent the football school of that country. Are you playing stupid? Guardiola made City good, Arteta made Arsenal good. Both coaches are Spanish, fullstop. 3) Trophies are the only important component not only in football, but also in sports. If there were no trophies to contest, only friendly matches would be played. Whoever wins the most trophies is the best. Knocking someone out (in this case English team knocking a Spanish one out before the final) means nothing if you don't win the final afterwards. The winner takes it all. Last but not least. there are three Spanish teams in the quarters (the greatest number), there is even a chance that all three will advance to the semis. 75% of semi-finalists could be Spanish. Which league is the best?

  • @Sputnik 1. my point was more about whether competitiveness especially over such a long span is really the number one way to judge the leagues' quality currently but since we both agree its trophies i will concede. 2. The "football school" of the country is still not synonymous with the league + even they are building upon the cruyff/dutch football school. Regardless i dont think its that relevant. 3. Yes, i agree. And im saying a PL team won the ucl last season for example. If the results change this year which they might do, id say the best league changes. Because winning is so important as you say. But its more a matter of semantics at this point and what u judge to be important over a 10 year span vs a seasonal thing

  • @Icarax Barcelona are (I'm even tempted to say *were*, as coach Xavi is not) building upon the Cruyff football school. Real Madrid are definitely not. :D That PL team is coached by a Spaniard and he is the sole reason they have become a dominant force in English football. Before Guardiola, City were a team which wins the league once in a blue moon (pun intended), but it was Guardiola who turned them into a hegemon. Not the Sheikh, not money, but Josep Guardiola. And they will stop being a hegemon after he leaves.

  • @Sputnik I don't disagree with you, just wanted to know what you think

  • @wilde If this were Facebook, I would WOW react :D

  • @Sputnik Think it's up to taste. It's certainly one of the most competitive one (ofc the most "bloated" one with sponsor/TV money as well), but that doesn't necessarily translate to success in international tournaments.

  • The best Arsenal in years vs the worst Bayern in years = 1-2 at half time

  • @neumi17 Yes, 2 shots on target=2 goals. They need to pick it up though in the second half. They'd be stupid to think they are doing fine.

  • Arsenal 2-2 Real M 2-2

  • COYG

  • 4-3

  • Arsenal's defensive record contrasted with Bayern's makes me think there'll be a clean sheet in this for Arsenal. Over 1.5 goals.

  • @athelstan123 How about Bayern's offensive record as the team with the most goals scored in Europe ?

  • @neumi17 Arsenal fans always underestimate Kane.

  • @neumi17 Farmers league!

  • I think coman will windup the match in second half

  • @Tuiop How come Asenal looks so clueless then vs a team from the farmers league, which additionally is in bad shape ?

  • @neumi17 The competition Bayern faces in the BL makes them the team with the most goals scored in Europe.

  • @Tuiop wake up kid

  • @nithinbvb you make no sense

  • 1:2 for Bayern Munchin

  • Bayern cant lose 2 match in a row, they will play this match for thier pride

  • @Ortega_10 Their season has been a train wreck

  • @Ortega_10 What pride?

  • Overmotivated Munich have only UCL left to save Tuchel's face this season...unlike Arsenal who bear EPL in mind

  • @Laowhy4ever good

  • Over 2.5 goals.

  • Bayern have lost 4 of their last 6 away games with both teams scoring in their last 4 road matches.

  • The gunners will face a team tonight with the highest rating of all clubs and the best offence in Europe. Bayern is sure not in a good form currently but in CL they have always performed pretty well. The result can go either way but it will be a close game for sure. My guess is 2-1 Arsenal or 2-2. Bayern loves to score in London, especially Gnabry ...

  • The 30-year-old has scored more Premier League goals against Arsenal than anybody else - with 14 strikes. Five of those came at the Emirates, which is the joint most for a non-Arsenal player.

  • @Marbella Transitional Arsenal, it's different now.

  • Which arsenal do we get? If the one that played against porto then they lose.

  • @deadelvisgrin They were playing mind games.

  • This should be a cleen sheet.... All the way arsenal 2-0

  • @Saminur Based on what ?

  • @neumi17 Arsenals defence and poor form of the visitors... And this is the finals so both teams will be focused on not concede goals .....on that regard

  • @neumi17 Wishful thinking!

  • Kane has scores to settle back home.... :P

  • This will be a 3:0

  • @albgunn Maybe not as many goals, but an Arsenal win for sure.

  • I just hope that Arsenal really turn up for this game. Bayern, as bad as they are, they have a potential of fighting back. But if the Emirates crowd can do what they normally do in the champions league at home, I hope it can be at least a 2-goal cushion. Gabriel and Saliba should be able to handle Kane at home, but I think Martinelli and Saka have to start. It is extremely important to win the first leg and a good win can also send a clear message to what will be coming to Aston Villa. Arsenal 3-1 Bayern

  • @GoonerRSA arsenal wont turn up, it will be a draw

  • 2-2 Kane to score

  • @FF2021 you're right

  • @FF2021 LOL I thought you do these kind of predictions in the premier league only... I had no idea that you are the same even in the champions league too.

  • @GoonerRSA Your comment didn"t age very well ... I will follow FF2021 now for is apparent expertise.

  • @GoonerRSA looool what happened to your arsenal

  • @GoonerRSA you seem to have a personality , well done son, well done!

  • @GoonerRSA All predictions are valid till the end of the game. This is football even 0-4 is possible.

  • @GoonerRSA

  • 2-1 Arsenal win
