Team News

Chelsea
Newcastle
  • Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is without six players due to injury, including recent absentees Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella and Reece James.
  • Ben Chilwell, Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu are doubts.
  • Christopher Nkunku was an unused sub for Saturday's win over Sheffield United and he may feature in some capacity here.
  • Newcastle lost both Joelinton and Fabian Schar to injury in the first half against Fulham and the pair will be assessed, as will Alexander Isak and Kieran Trippier.
  • Sven Botman made his first appearance since September off the bench against Fulham and his availability is a boost for Eddie Howe, who is without eight players due to injury or suspension.
  • Lewis Hall is clear to play here and should feature in some capacity against his parent club.

Prediction

  • Chelsea followed up back-to-back defeats with a 2-0 win over Sheffield United at the weekend. The Blues are unbeaten in four at home, winning three times in that run.
  • Newcastle ended a three-game losing streak with a routine 3-0 home win over Fulham on Saturday. Newcastle will hope for a repeat of their 4-1 win over Chelsea last month.
  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 12 home meetings with Newcastle, and given the latter's raft of injury concerns; the west London side will fancy their chances of securing a semi-final spot on Tuesday.
