Team News

Rangers
Hearts
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named five changes from the Gers' 3-1 victory over Ross County at Ibrox in their midweek match, before their 3-0 win against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday afternoon.
  • Borna Barisic replaced Ridvan Yilmaz at left-back in Perth to join club captain James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and John Souttar in the Gers' back four. Mohamed Diomande, who scored the opener, replaced Tom Lawrence in midfield.
  • Scott Wright and Oscar Cortés took Ross McCausland and Rabbi Matondo's places on the right hand side and left hand side of midfield respectively. Fabio Silva took Cyriel Dessers' place as Rangers' sole striker on Sunday.
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made four changes after the Jambos advanced into the Scottish Cup quarter-final with a comprehensive 4-1 victory away to Airdrie, before a 2-0 win against Motherwell at Tynecastle last Saturday.
  • Zander Clark took Craig Gordon's place between the sticks, recording his 13th Premiership clean sheet this season. Kye Rowles and Frankie Kent came into the back three, replacing the injured Craig Halkett at the back.
  • Kenneth Vargas sealed the deal against the Well after coming off the bench. Jorge Grant was also sat on there, as Scott Fraser was handed a start at the weekend. Alan Forrest supported the Jambos' main marksman Lawrence Shankland in attack, who netted his 18th league goal this season on Saturday.

Prediction

  • Rangers and Hearts meet for the fourth time this season, with the Gers beating the Jambos on the previous three occasions in both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup.
  • The Gers, thanks to their victory over St Johnstone on Sunday, leapfrogged bitter rivals Celtic to top the Scottish Premiership table for the first time this season and for the first time in two years. It has been a remarkable run for Rangers, considering they trailed the Hoops by eight points at the top of the tree earlier on in the season. Twelve games to go, they must simply keep winning.
  • However, they host a side whose form has matched their own as Hearts head west having picked up 28 points from the last available 30 in the Scottish Premiership. The Jambos put a Parkhead hoodoo to rest within that extraordinary run and, still kicking themselves from throwing two points away on their last visit to Govan, they'll hope to end a decade-long wait for a win at Ibrox here.
  • Rangers and Hearts are right amongst the most in-form top-tier teams in Europe, but the Gers will hope they have enough to sneak past the Jambos for the fourth time this season.
