Team News

Hearts
Hibernian
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made three changes after the Jambos clinched a 2-0 win against Motherwell at Tynecastle, before their remarkable recent run came to an end as they were hammered 5-0 by Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
  • Nathaniel Atkinson replaced Dexter Lembikisa at right wing-back, as Alex Cochrane continued at left wing-back. Stephen Kingsley, Kye Rowles and Frankie Kent were the three centre-backs chosen once again.
  • Beni Baningime, Calem Nieuwenhof and Jorge Grant - who took Scott Fraser's spot - were the selected midfield trio. Alan Forrest made way for Kenneth Vargas to accompany the Jambos' main marksman Lawrence Shankland in attack.
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named three changes to the Hibernian team that picked up a point at Pittodrie against Aberdeen in a 2-2 draw, before a first league win since the 9th December as they beat Dundee 2-1 at Easter Road on Saturday.
  • Rocky Bushiri made a first start since December, having been away with DR Congo at the African Cup of Nations, replacing Nectarios Triantis in the Hibees' defence to join Lewis Miller, Will Fish and Jordan Obita.
  • Emiliano Marcondes replaced the ill Dylan Levitt in midfield. Myziane Maolida, who netted the weekend winner, moved out to the left. Dylan Vente, who fired Hibs ahead from the spot, took Elie Youan's place as the Hibees' sole striker.

Prediction

  • The third Edinburgh derby of the season takes place at Tynecastle as Hearts' recent run came to an end, whilst Hibs are hoping their weekend win is the beginning of a successful sequence.
  • The Jambos came crashing back down to earth, as a ruthless Rangers thumped them 5-0 at Ibrox and Hearts lost for the first time since the 9th December. 12 games passed since defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie where the men in maroon won eleven matches, including some derby delight at Easter Road. With Celtic to come to Tynecastle on Sunday, they'll hope to bounce back here.
  • Hibernian couldn't find a winning remedy unless playing a lower-league team in the Scottish Cup, as eight Scottish Premiership matches without a win came to an end on Saturday against Dundee. The Hibees now have victory in the Edinburgh derby firmly in their sights, as they battled back from two down for a draw in their last visit to Tynecastle and are aiming to go one better.
  • Hibs are in search of a first Edinburgh derby victory this season, but hosts Hearts will hope to bounce back - and equal last season's points tally - with a victory over their bitter city rivals.
