Team News

Livingston
Motherwell
  • Davie Martindale named an unchanged Livingston team that clinched a huge three points in a 1-0 win over St Mirren in West Lothian, before they lost a big basement battle 3-2 to relegation rivals Ross County in Dingwall at the weekend.
  • Shamal George had kept a rare clean sheet for Livi so started behind Jamie Brandon, Michael Nottingham, Ayo Obileye and Mo Sangare who was filling in at left-back. Cristian Montano was back on the bench after injury so could come in soon.
  • David Carson, Jason Holt and Andrew Shinnie were chosen as the midfield trio. Joel Nouble and Stephen Kelly aimed to support Tete Yengi up front. Bruce Anderson came off the bench to bag a brace in Dingwall so could start here.
  • Stuart Kettlewell named just one change to the Motherwell team despite a 2-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle, before Celtic hit the Steelmen with a late sucker punch as two late goals sealed a 3-1 win for the Hoops at Fir Park on Sunday.
  • Dan Casey continued alongside Bevis Mugabi and Paul McGinn in the Well's back three. Georgie Gent and Adam Devine remained at left and right wing-back with Lennon Miller and Davor Zdravkovski starting in the middle of the park.
  • Blair Spittal missed the trip to Edinburgh but started and scored against the reigning champions, taking Harry Paton's place. Jack Vale and Theo Bair lead the line for the Well, as Oli Shaw returned to the bench having not played since December.

Prediction

  • Two of the Scottish Premiership's bottom four go toe-to-toe in West Lothian, as Livingston host Motherwell in one of the Scottish Premiership's five matches on Wednesday night.
  • Having recorded a huge three points against St Mirren, Livingston could've hauled themselves further towards safety had they got the better of Ross County up in Dingwall at the weekend. They made things tricky for themselves, but nearly completed a remarkable comeback only to lose to the Staggies late on. Here, they'll look to dust themselves off and try to get back to winning ways.
  • Motherwell suffered late agony against Celtic for the second time this season, as the Hoops just love to leave it late and win at Fir Park having also done so back in September. The Well ended a 15 game wait for a win with a 3-1 victory over Livi at Fir Park in their final fixture of 2023. But they lost 2-0 to Livingston back in October, having only won once away from home all season long.
  • Both sides have won one league meeting apiece so, despite both Livingston and Motherwell looking to bounce back from weekend defeats, a share of the spoils wouldn't be a surprise.
