Team News

Rangers
Hibernian
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named one change from the Gers team that progressed in the Scottish Cup thanks to a 2-0 victory over Hibernian at Easter Road, before a 1-0 defeat to Benfica saw them crash out of the Europa League.
  • Cub captain James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, John Souttar and Ridvan Yilmaz made up the Gers' back four. Mohamed Diomande accompanied John Lundstram in front of the defence once again.
  • Scott Wright replaced the injured Dujon Sterling on the right-hand side of midfield against the Portuguese giants. Fabio Silva continued on the left-hand side, with Cyriel Dessers chosen to lead the line up front.
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named two changes to the Hibernian team that drew in Dingwall thanks to a late Ross County equaliser in their 2-2 stalemate, before a routine 3-0 victory over Livingston at Easter Road in their last league game.
  • Chris Cadden replaced Lewis Miller at right-back. He joined Will Fish, Rocky Bushiri and Jordan Obita in the Hibees' back four. Joe Newell and Nectarios Triantis continued in midfield.
  • Dylan Levitt made way for Adam Le Fondre to start up front. The veteran forward fired Hibs in front up in the Highlands, and clinched the third goal against Livi in a first-half rout before the international break.

Prediction

  • After the disappointment of Dundee postponing their match at Dens Park, Rangers make their long-awaited return to Scottish Premiership action as they host a Hibs team in good form.
  • Rangers can turn their attention towards domestic matters after their continental adventure came to an end with defeat to Benfica at Ibrox. This could prove a blessing in disguise, as the Gers are the only Scottish team that can win a treble - following success in the League Cup - and that must be the aim for them which was practically unthinkable before making that managerial change.
  • Hibernian won three league games in a row at Easter Road for the first time since October 2022, after a first-half demolition of relegation-threatened Livingston before the international break, making amends for a defeat to Livi in Edinburgh back in August. They head through west sat in the top six with three games to go before the Scottish Premiership split and will want to stay there.
  • Rangers have beaten Hibernian in three meetings in all competitions this season, without conceding a goal, and will want to continue that impressive recent record this weekend.
