Team News

Aberdeen
Ross County
  • Interim Aberdeen boss Peter Leven named just one change to the Dons team that lost by a sole goal away to Dundee at Dens Park, before they beat Motherwell at Fir Park by the same scoreline before the international break.
  • Jack MacKenzie joined Angus MacDonald, Stefan Gartenmann and Nicky Devlin in the unchanged back four. Graeme Shinnie and Connor Barron continued in front of the Dons' defence.
  • Junior Hoilett and Jamie McGrath were joined by Leighton Clarkson, who scored the goal against the Well in their last league game, at Killian Phillips' expense in support of lone striker Bojan Miovski.
  • Interim Ross County boss Don Cowie named four changes to the Staggies side that bounced back to claim a 2-2 draw against Hibernian in Dingwall, before an impressive 2-1 win over Hearts in their last league match before the break.
  • Loick Ayina replaced Connor Randall to start at right wing-back. Max Sheaf joined Victor Loturi at the base of the Staggies' five-man midfield, replacing Josh Sims. Brandon Khela made way for playmaker Yan Dhanda to start against Hearts.
  • And the final alteration saw Eamonn Brophy make way for Jordan White to start up front. He accompanied Simon Murray, who bagged a brace against the Jambos in Dingwall, in attack last time out.

Prediction

  • Ninth hosts eleventh in a big basement battle at Pittodrie, as Aberdeen take on Ross County in the return of the Scottish Premiership with both teams having won their last league game.
  • Aberdeen clinched a massive three points away to Motherwell, as their decent recent record there continued. Their last league victory saw them clinch a third successive win against Motherwell at Fir Park for the third time this century, having also done so in 2003 and 2018. Another victory here could see them move six points clear of Ross County, who occupy the relegation playoff place.
  • However, the Staggies also claimed a momentous win in their last Scottish Premiership game as they ended a woeful recent record against Hearts by beating the Jambos in Dingwall for the first time in over a decade. Not since September 2013 had Ross County beaten the capital club in the Highlands, but they were unable to move out of eleventh place in the league table as a result.
  • This match is the epitome of a six-pointer, so Aberdeen will hope to clinch a third Scottish Premiership victory - and fourth in all competitions - over Ross County this season to help ease the fears of the dreaded drop.
