Team News

Hibernian
St. Johnstone
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named an unchanged Hibernian team that clinched a routine 3-0 victory over Livingston at Easter Road before the international break, before they lost 3-1 to Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
  • David Marshall remained behind Chris Cadden, Will Fish, Rocky Bushiri and Jordan Obita in the Hibees' back four. Joe Newell and Nectarios Triantis continued in midfield.
  • Élie Youan and Hibernian's weekend goalscorer Myziane Maolida provided the width from the right and left flank respectively. Emiliano Marcondes supported lone striker Adam Le Fondre in Glasgow at the weekend.
  • St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named three changes to the Saints side that fell to a 3-1 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead before the international break, as they lost the Tayside derby 2-1 to Dundee at the weekend.
  • Tony Gallacher joined Ryan McGowan and club captain Liam Gordon in the Saints back three, replacing Andy Considine. Max Kucheriavyi entered the midfield, accompanying Dan Phillips and Matt Smith, at Graham Carey's expense.
  • David Keltjens and Luke Robinson started as wing-backs. Sven Sprangler is injured so dropped out of the matchday squad completely. Nicky Clark joined the weekend goalscorer Adama Sidibeh in attack.

Prediction

  • Hibernian are hopeful of three points this weekend if they are to finish in the top six, while St Johnstone are hopeful of three points if they are to escape a Scottish Premiership basement battle.
  • Hibs' poor recent record against Rangers continued, with just one victory across their last 10 matches against the Gers in all competitions (a 3-1 win in the Scottish League Cup semi-final in 2021). After an unbeaten run of six league games, the weekend defeat in Glasgow was their first in seven Scottish Premiership games. The Hibees' hopes of top six is dependent on a win here.
  • Away from home, there may be less pressure on St Johnstone to pick up what would be a pivotal point or ideally all three. Saints have now failed to win any of their last six Scottish Premiership games at McDiarmid Park, following defeat in the Tayside derby to Dundee at the weekend, their longest winless run at home since nine without a victory between November 2022 and April 2023.
  • St Johnstone's last victory in Perth was a 1-0 win over Hibs in December. However, the Hibees beat Saints 2-0 at Easter Road back in September and should do so again this weekend.
