Team News

Rangers
Motherwell
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named three changes from the Gers team that hammered Hearts 5-0 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon, before they came from behind to win 2-1 at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock on Wednesday night.
  • Borna Barisic replaced Ridvan Yilmaz at left-back to join club captain James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and John Souttar in the Gers' back four. Mohamed Diomande accompanied John Lundstram in front of the defence once again.
  • Ross McCausland replaced Dujon Sterling on the right-hand side of midfield. Óscar Cortés continued on the left, but was joined centrally by the midweek matchwinner Tom Lawrence. Fabio Silva came in for Cyriel Dessers up front.
  • Stuart Kettlewell named two changes to the Motherwell team that was hit with a late sucker punch as two late goals sealed a 3-1 win for Celtic at Fir Park on Sunday, but the Well won by that scoreline away to Livingston on Wednesday.
  • Stephen O'Donnell replaced Georgie Gent at right wing-back, as Adam Devine - ineligible to face his parent club this weekend - moved over to left wing-back. Lennon Miller and Davor Zdravkovski remained in the middle of the park.
  • Sam Nicholson made his first start for the Steelmen and nodded home the Well's equaliser against Livi, replacing Jack Vale who sealed the deal off the bench. Blair Spittal, who scored the second, joined him in support of lone striker Theo Bair.

Prediction

  • Rangers and Motherwell were two of four Scottish Premiership teams to win in midweek, both looking for three points in their different quests.
  • The Gers overcame a tricky hurdle given that, before Wednesday night, they had lost five of their last eight league trips to Rugby Park. Nine league victories in a row, they've got over their derby defeat in December superbly and have stayed two points clear at the top of the table. With Celtic playing on Sunday, Rangers could move five points clear before the Hoops head to Tynecastle.
  • Motherwell have now won back-to-back league games against Livingston since four straight victories which ended in December 2021. The Well were winless in eleven Scottish Premiership games, last going longer without victory on the road in the top tier between August 2002 and August 2003, a run of 18 games in a row. The Steelmen don't travel well and are up against it this weekend.
  • Rangers have been relentless recently and despite Motherwell getting back to winning ways in midweek, the Gers should sweep the Steelmen aside with relative ease.
