Team News

Ross County
Hibernian
  • Interim Ross County boss Don Cowie named two changes to the Staggies side that was held at home by St Mirren in a 1-1 draw, before a 2-0 defeat to their midweek opponents Hibernian at Easter Road in their last league match.
  • Jack Baldwin returned to the Ross County defence for the first time since the winter break, as Loick Ayina was sat amongst the substitutes, to join Ryan Leak and Michee Efete.
  • Josh Reid continued at left wing-back, with James Brown coming in at right wing-back. Eli King, Victor Loturi and Max Sheaf remained in midfield with Eamonn Brophy and Jordan White starting in attack as the ill Simon Murray missed out.
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named two changes to the Hibernian team that recorded a 2-0 victory over midweek opponents Ross County in Edinburgh, before they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Rangers at Easter Road.
  • Chris Cadden made his first start of the season, as the Hibees lost 2-0, to join Will Fish, Rocky Bushiri and Jordan Obita in the back four as Lewis Miller missed out. Nectarios Triantis replaced Dylan Vente to start in midfield.
  • Joe Newell and Nathan Moriah-Welsh, who was sent off along with the aforementioned Jordan Obita, remained in midfield. Martin Boyle was stretchered off after a nasty injury so should miss their midweek match as a result.

Prediction

  • Ross County and Hibernian meet for a second successive Scottish Premiership match, as one of two top-tier matches taking place on Wednesday night.
  • The Staggies host both Edinburgh sides on league duty this week, and would love nothing more than a quickfire double over the capital clubs to help in their quest to avoid finishing in the Scottish Premiership relegation playoff place for the second season in a row. Fixtures are beginning to creep away from County, with the task of picking up points getting harder as time goes on.
  • Hibs head to Dingwall looking to put their Scottish Cup exit behind them, and salvage their Scottish Premiership season. A top-six berth and clashes against the top two and capital city rivals Hearts would bring more money and would make amends for a shocking start to the campaign. Victory in the Highlands could prove pivotal, especially if Aberdeen do them a favour in Dundee.
  • Ross County are yet to beat Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership after a draw and defeat at Easter Road, so Hibs will hope to claim quickfire back-to-back victories over the Staggies with a win in midweek.
