Team News

Rangers
Ross County
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named seven changes from the 2-1 midweek victory over Aberdeen at Ibrox, before the Gers knocked Scottish Championship side Ayr United out of the Scottish Cup with a 2-0 victory on Saturday evening.
  • Jack Butland retained his place in goal behind a back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, John Souttar and Borna Barisic, who replaced Ridvan Yilmaz.
  • Ryan Jack and Nicolas Raskin replaced Tom Lawrence and John Lundstram.
  • January signings Mohamed Diomande and Oscar Cortes accompanied Scott Wright as Ross McCausland, Todd Cantwell and Rabbi Matondo all dropped out. Fabio Silva started as the Gers' sole striker and scored, in place of Cyriel Dessers.
  • Ross County boss Derek Adams named an unchanged Staggies side that lost 1-0 to St Johnstone in Dingwall the weekend before last, before a 5-0 thumping away to relegation rivals Motherwell proved the end of his third tenure as County boss.
  • Cameron Borthwick-Jackson started with Loick Ayina and Will Nightingale in the back three. George Harmon came into a five-man midfield, as County shifted to a different formation, with James Brown remaining at right wing-back.
  • Yan Dhanda pushed further forward, ahead of Teddy Jenks and Eli King in the middle of the park. Jordan White continued to start alongside Simon Murray in the Staggies' attack.

Prediction

  • Rangers could go top of the Scottish Premiership table with a comfortable victory over a Ross County side stuck in the relegation playoff place, regardless of what happens at Ibrox on Wednesday.
  • The Gers have made quite the turnaround since a 3-1 defeat in September to Aberdeen at Ibrox left them languishing behind a Celtic side that were confident they'd go on and retain the Scottish Premiership title. The fact that they could leapfrog the league leaders is enough of an incentive to record all three points emphatically and given Ross County's recent woes, that seems a certainty.
  • The Staggies are searching for a third manager to take the team this season, after a humiliating 5-0 loss to Motherwell has left them six points behind the Steelmen who couldn't buy a win for love nor money. County do have a few games in hand on St Johnstone but they'll need to win at least one of those - including this monumental task at Ibrox - if they're to have any chance of climbing out of eleventh.
  • We should see a new league leader come Wednesday night, as Rangers are expected to get the better of Ross County comfortably and overtake Celtic in the process.
