Team News

Hibernian
Hearts
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named two changes to the Hibernian team that recorded a sole-goal success away to Livingston, before they fell to defeat against St Johnstone in Perth by the same 1-0 scoreline the weekend before last.
  • Lewis Miller took Rory Whittaker's place at right-back, to join Will Fish, Paul Hanlon and Jordan Obita in the back four. Dylan Levitt was joined by James Jeggo, as opposed to the suspended Joe Newell, in the middle of the park.
  • Élie Youan and Jair Tavares continued on the flanks, as Martin Boyle partnered Dylan Vente in attack. The Hibees are still without injured quartet Chris Cadden, Jake Doyle-Hayes, Adam Le Fondre and Harry McKirdy.
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made three changes after the Jambos clinched a shock 2-0 victory over Celtic at Parkhead a fortnight ago, before a win at the weekend against St Mirren at Tynecastle by the same scoreline.
  • Stephen Kingsley, who scored a cracking free-kick away to the league leaders, picked up an injury at Celtic Park so made way for Craig Halkett to join Kye Rowles and Frankie Kent in the Hearts' back three.
  • Beni Baningime and Aidan Denholm remained in midfield. Barrie McKay and Yutaro Oda replaced Jorge Grant and Alan Forrest, both looking to provide for the Jambos' main marksman Lawrence Shankland - who bagged a brace against the Buddies - in attack.

Prediction

  • The second Edinburgh derby of the season takes place at Easter Road, as Hibs host Hearts, after the two teams had to settle for a share of the spoils at Tynecastle in the first league meeting.
  • Hibernian didn't get the chance to make amends for a disappointing defeat at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone, as their trip to Dingwall to take on Ross County was postponed at the weekend. Two defeats in three league matches for the Hibees ought to be corrected and, given they trail their bitter city rivals, a victory over Hearts would pull them to within three points of them.
  • However, Hearts enter their trip to Leith encouraged by back-to-back clean sheets which has seen them pick up consecutive Scottish Premiership wins. The Jambos blew a golden opportunity for a derby day victory in the reverse fixture at their place, so revenge will be on their minds. A win against Hibs would see them open up an eight-point gap as they look to maintain their position in third.
  • Both sides will want the bragging rights for different reasons but we had a draw at Tynecastle, where Hibs came from two goals down against Hearts, and another share of the spoils at Easter Road wouldn't be too surprising.
