Team News

St. Mirren
Motherwell
  • Stephen Robinson named three changes to the St Mirren side fell to a late loss to St Johnstone by a sole goal on Wednesday night, before bouncing back with a 2-0 victory over Ross County in Paisley at the weekend.
  • Richard Taylor rejoined Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser in the Buddies' backline, at Charles Dunne's expense. Ryan Flynn was filling in at right wing-back but joins Ryan Strain out injured, so Thierry Small took his spot on the flank.
  • Mark O'Hara and Caolan Boyd-Munce continued in midfield. Greg Kiltie supported Jonah Ayunga - who netted the second against the Staggies last weekend - and Stav Nahmani, who replaced Lewis Jamieson in the starting eleven, in attack.
  • Stuart Kettlewell named three changes after Motherwell fell to a 3-0 defeat to Ross County in Dingwall last Tuesday night, before a late leveller saw them salvage a point against St Johnstone in a 1-1 draw at Fir Park on Saturday.
  • Bevis Mugabi started alongside Shane Blaney and Brodie Spencer at the heart of the Steelmen's backline. Georgie Gent started on the left of a four-man midfield, for the first time this season. Out dropped Dan Casey and Conor Wilkinson.
  • Also handed a first Steelmen start was Davor Zdravkovski to accompany Callum Slattery in midfield. In attack, the weekend goalscorer Mika Biereth and Blair Spittal supported Jon Obika who replaced Theo Bair up front.

Prediction

  • Third top hosts third bottom as St Mirren take on Motherwell in Paisley on Saturday afternoon in the Scottish Premiership.
  • The Buddies bounced back from three consecutive Scottish Premiership defeats, with a comprehensive victory against Ross County. Saints have lost just one Scottish Premiership match in Paisley so far this season, against Rangers, having won five of their eight league games in Renfrewshire. Against an out-of-sorts Motherwell, that can't buy a win, they'll feel confident of making it six from nine this weekend.
  • The Well's winless run continued, as they've now gone 13 matches (five draws, eight defeats) without a Scottish Premiership victory. Having fallen to tenth spot in the league table, pressure is beginning to pile up. Had they not equalised against St Johnstone, they'd be occupying the relegation playoff place. A point here could prove pivotal but in all honesty, they need three as soon as possible.
  • A side strong at home should record a victory against a team that's toiling at the wrong end of the league table, with a comfortable win reflecting their positions in the league table.
