Team News

Dundee FC
Hearts
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named five changes to the Dee team that clinched an emphatic 4-1 victory at Livingston on Saturday afternoon, before they settled for a share of the spoils against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in midweek.
  • Trevor Carson was reinstated in goal, replacing Harry Sharp between the sticks. Owen Beck signed for Dundee, on loan from Liverpool, for the second half of the campaign after impressing on Tayside and appearing for the Reds this season.
  • Dara Costelloe, Fin Robertson and the suspended Luke McCowan made way for Lyall Cameron and Malachi Boateng to come back into midfield. Zach Robinson also replaced Scott Tiffoney to partner Amadou Bakayoko up front.
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made three changes after the Jambos got the better of this weekend's opponents in a crazy five-goal thriller at Tynecastle, before a 2-0 victory over Aberdeen in Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon.
  • Craig Halkett made way as the Jambos switched to a four-at-the-back formation. Aidan Denholm limped off injured against Dundee, so was sat amongst the substitutes at the weekend. Kenneth Vargas also dropped onto the bench.
  • In came Alan Forrest on the left, Yutaro Oda on the right-hand side. Jorge Grant, who slotted home the opener from the spot, supported Lawrence Shankland who sealed the deal for the Jambos against Aberdeen in attack.

Prediction

  • Having played out a five-goal thriller last midweek, Dundee host Hearts at Dens with the home team having won both league meetings between the two teams so far this season.
  • The Dee beat Hearts at Dens Park back at the end of August, in their first Scottish Premiership victory upon their return to the top flight. They'll hope that it's a similar showing back in the summer, as opposed to their capital collapse where they blew a two-goal advantage at Tynecastle to Hearts recently. With Hibs hosting St Mirren, a win in this one could see them rise to fifth.
  • Hearts will hope for another three points against Dundee, after they were made to work for it at Tynecastle last Tuesday night. Exactly half of the Jambos' Premiership points have come on their travels, with their defeat at Dens one of four away league losses. Another three points could prove pivotal as the men in maroon aim for third place having finished there the season before last.
  • Two good teams go toe-to-toe for the third time this season, having won one apiece, so a share of the spoils wouldn't be a great surprise this weekend.
