Team News

Rangers
Dundee FC
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named two changes from the Gers team that registered a 2-0 success against St Mirren on Sunday at Ibrox, before a sole-goal victory at Tynecastle in their midweek match against Hearts on Wednesday night.
  • Borna Barisic was omitted from the matchday squad, as Ridvan Yilmaz took his spot at left-back. Club captain James Tavernier continued at right-back, with Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun the preferred defensive duo at present.
  • The only other alteration saw Danilo replace Cyriel Dessers in attack. He was supported by the midweek matchwinner Abdallah Sima, who has scored three goals in his last two games, Ross McCausland and Todd Cantwell.
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named one enforced change to the Dee team after that fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Hibs at Dens Park, before a crazy 3-3 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday.
  • Jordan McGhee stayed at right wing-back, with Owen Beck at left wing-back as the Dee persisted with a back three. The only alteration was Ricki Lamie, ineligible to play against his parent club, making way for Aaron Donnelly in the Dee defence.
  • Malachi Boateng kept his place alongside Lyall Cameron and Luke McCowan in the midfield trio. Zak Rudden continued to partner Amadou Bakayoko in attack, but Zach Robinson is scoring goals off the bench so may be handed a start soon.

Prediction

  • Rangers host newly promoted Dundee at Ibrox, in their second Scottish Premiership meeting of the season, after smashing five past the Dee at Dens Park without reply.
  • The Gers have won back-to-back Scottish Premiership matches, after a disappointing draw against Aberdeen, duly responding with victories over fourth place and third place respectively without conceding a goal. One of their most impressive performances of the season came in the reverse fixture against Dundee - at Dens Park - so Rangers will be hopeful of another commanding victory.
  • After that five-goal thumping in their own backyard, Dundee recorded back-to-back Scottish Premiership victories but are winless in two league games despite scoring four goals against Hibs and Motherwell. The Dee have won just once on their travels in six games so far this season, but have only lost twice, and they'd kill for a point or greater in Glasgow against Rangers this weekend.
  • Rangers were rampant up in Dundee, and whilst they destroyed the Dee at Dens last month, they should record a victory at Ibrox to claim a league double.
