Team News

Kilmarnock
Hibernian
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named three changes to the Killie team that succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox before the winter break, as two early goals saw them cruise past Dundee 2-0 in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
  • January arrival Kieran O'Hara, signed from Colchester United, took Will Dennis' place in goal. Lewis Mayo, Joe Wright and Stuart Findlay continued as the back three with Danny Armstrong right wing-back and Matty Kennedy left wing-back.
  • The only alteration in the five-man midfield was David Watson taking Liam Donnelly's place in the starting XI. Corrie Ndaba made way as Killie went two up top, Marley Watkins joining club captain Kyle Vassell in attack.
  • Hibs boss Nick Montgomery named five changes to the Hibernian team that progressed in the Scottish Cup thanks to a sole-goal success away to Forfar Athletic, before they were swept aside 3-0 by Rangers at Easter Road in midweek.
  • Jordan Obita and Kanayo Megwa, previously on loan at Championship side Airdrieonians, replaced the ill Paul Hanlon and Rory Whittaker in the Hibees' back four to accompany Will Fish and Lewis Stevenson.
  • Dylan Levitt replaced young Rudi Molotnikov to accompany Joe Newell in midfield. Dylan Vente was reinstated in attack, joined by new signing Myziane Maolida who is on loan from German second division side Hertha Berlin as Jimmy Jeggo and Christian Doidge dropped out.

Prediction

  • Fourth takes on sixth as Kilmarnock and Hibernian go head-to-head at Rugby Park, both sides looking to cement their spots in the top half of the Scottish Premiership table.
  • Kilmarnock are a step away from a Scottish Cup quarter-final, as they'll take on Highland League outfit Brora Rangers or Cove Rangers of League 1 at Rugby Park in the fifth round, following a super start, which saw them eliminate Dundee in three minutes. Killie will be disappointed that Hearts came from two down to win in midweek, but have to keep winning to secure a top-six spot.
  • Hibs have some tough tests coming up, taking on three of the top five in the Scottish Premiership in their next trio of league matches, but their return to league action was a sorry one as they barely laid a glove on Rangers at Easter Road on Wednesday. Back-to-back home matches succeed this weekend's trip to Ayrshire, where they need at least a point to pick up some confidence.
  • Hibernian were hopeless in their midweek match and Kilmarnock will feel confident that they can extend the gap between them and Hibs to nine points with a victory in this one.
