St. Mirren
Celtic
- Stephen Robinson named two changes to the St Mirren side that fell to a rare home loss at the hands of Kilmarnock as they lost 1-0 in Paisley on Wednesday, before a wonderful win at Pittodrie as they beat Aberdeen 3-0 to conclude 2023.
- Richard Taylor remained alongside Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser in the Buddies' backline. Thierry Small was previously filling in at right wing-back but James Bolton took his spot on the flank as Scott Tanser played at left wing-back.
- Keanu Baccus continued to accompany club captain Mark O'Hara in midfield. Greg Kiltie pushed further forward to support a new strike pairing of Lewis Jamieson and Mikael Mandron. Jonah Ayunga came off the bench to score so could start in this one.
- Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named one change to the Celts side that clinched a 3-0 win against Dundee at Dens Park on Boxing Day, before they concluded 2023 with a 2-1 victory in the Glasgow derby against Rangers at Celtic Park.
- Joe Hart continued in goal with Alastair Johnston, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor in front of him. Cameron Carter-Vickers started alongside Scales at centre-back but was forced off through injury so Stephen Welsh took his place.
- Paulo Bernardo has scored two goals in as many matches in midfield alongside Callum McGregor and Matt O'Riley. Luis Palma and Daizen Maeda supported Kyogo Furuhashi who continued his excellent recent record against Rangers with the winning goal.
