Team News

Rangers
St. Mirren
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named three changes from the Gers team that drew 1-1 against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday, before they were held at home by Aris Limassol in their Europa League encounter on Thursday night.
  • Connor Goldson was suspended against the Cypriots and Leon Balogun isn't in the Gers' European squad. That made way for Ben Davies and John Souttar to start as the centre-back pairing in their midweek match.
  • Sam Lammers started at Tom Lawrence's expense in midfield. Ross McCausland scored for the hosts on Thursday, after replacing Todd Cantwell just 35 minutes into the match, so may be handed a start against St Mirren this weekend.
  • Stephen Robinson named three changes to the St Mirren side that clinched a sole goal success over Livingston in Paisley on Saturday, before they lost their midweek match to Ross County in Dingwall by the same 1-0 scoreline.
  • Richard Taylor missed out on the trip to the Highlands, after coming off against Livi with an ankle injury, so Charles Dunne took his spot in the back three to join Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser on Tuesday night.
  • Keanu Baccus returned from suspension, joining club captain Mark O'Hara in midfield at Caolan Boyd-Munce's expense. Jonah Ayunga made his return from injury at the weekend, but Alex Greive came in to partner Mikael Mandron up front.

Prediction

  • Two of this season's top three in the Scottish Premiership, heading into this weekend's fixtures, meet at Ibrox as Rangers take on St Mirren.
  • The Gers spurned the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the league table to six points, following Celtic's draw with Motherwell, as they left Pittodrie with a point against Aberdeen. Following further frustration in their midweek match, Rangers just have to keep plugging away and hoping that Celtic slip up. Fixtures are coming thick and fast, so a return to winning ways as soon as possible wouldn't go amiss.
  • For Saints, they needed to get back to winning ways last weekend and successfully did so against a lacklustre Livingston. However, the Buddies headed to the Highlands hopeful that they could extend the gap in third place. A late goal saw them leave Dingwall with nothing but they're still the best of the rest prior to this weekend's matches. They'll watch Saturday's match at Rugby Park with intrigue given Hearts could potentially overtake.
  • Despite there being just six points between Rangers and St Mirren in the league table, the hosts' pent-up anger could be taken out on the visitors this weekend.
