Team News

Rangers
Hibernian
  • Philippe Clement takes charge of Rangers for the very first time as the former Genk, Club Brugge and Monaco manager hopes to transform the Gers' season, as they trail Celtic by seven points in the Scottish Premiership table.
  • Last time out, Steven Davis made four changes as they swept St Mirren aside 3-0 in Paisley. John Souttar replaced Ben Davies in the Gers back four. Jose Cifuentes joined John Lundstram and Nicolas Raskin in midfield.
  • Zak Lovelace was handed a first senior start and Kemar Roofe entered Rangers' attack. Out dropped Scott Wright, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers from the group stage defeat to Cypriot side Aris Limassol in the Europa League.
  • Nick Montgomery made three changes from the Hibernian team that was held at home in a goalless draw versus Dundee at Easter Road, before they battled back to claim a 2-2 draw at Tynecastle in their Edinburgh derby against Hearts.
  • Club stalwarts Lewis Stevenson and Paul Hanlon were overlooked on derby day, as Jordan Obita took Stevenson's spot at left-back and Hanlon was replaced by Rocky Bushiri at centre-back.
  • The only other alteration saw Christian Doidge given the nod to start in attack, partnering Dylan Vente as Adam Le Fondre had to settle for a spot among the substitutes in Gorgie prior to the international break.

Prediction

  • Rangers are a point further from league leaders Celtic in the Scottish Premiership standings than they are from Hibernian in seventh spot heading into this weekend's fixtures.
  • The Gers have named Belgian boss Philippe Clement as the man to succeed Michael Beale in the Ibrox hotseat, where there is immediate pressure to try and salvage Rangers' season. They are potentially 180 minutes away from a trophy, where they could face Hibernian at Hampden in another cup final, but right now they must try and catch a Celtic side that are seven points in front.
  • Hibernian head to Ibrox on the back of a derby day draw, where they were two goals down and kept alive the unbeaten streak under their new gaffer, albeit they've drawn their last two Scottish Premiership matches. All eyes are on the hosts in their attempt to right the wrongs of their last league match at home, so the Hibees are underdogs and looking to spoil the party with a win here.
  • The last league meeting ended in a 3-1 victory for Rangers in Edinburgh, and the Gers would love to kick off the Clement era in Glasgow by the same scoreline, and hand Nick Montgomery his first defeat as Hibs manager as they try to claim a new manager bounce of their own.
