Team News

Hibernian
Kilmarnock
  • Nick Montgomery made two changes from the Hibernian team that lost their League Cup semi-final 1-0 to ten-man Aberdeen at Hampden on Saturday evening, before they drew 2-2 in Paisley against St Mirren on Wednesday night.
  • Lewis Miller dropped onto the bench, as Rory Whittaker replaced him at right-back to make his first senior start. The teenager joined Jordan Obita, Rocky Bushiri and Will Fish in the Hibs back four with David Marshall in goal.
  • Martin Boyle was also a surprise substitute, he made way for Josh Campbell to start in midfield against the Buddies, supporting lone striker Dylan Vente, and fire the Hibees in front in their midweek match.
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named just one change to the Killie team that suffered a 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone in Perth last midweek, before they bounced back with a 1-0 win against Motherwell at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon.
  • Stuart Findlay, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo continued in defence, but were joined by Robbie Deas who replaced Liam Polworth in the starting eleven as Killie shifted to a back four. Matty Kennedy and Danny Armstrong provided width on the wings.
  • David Watson partnered Brad Lyons in midfield. Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins continued in attack, but substitute Innes Cameron - who came on for the aforementioned Vassell - netted the winner against the Well.

Prediction

  • Killie head to the capital with three wins in their last four league games, up against a Hibernian side that are winless in six Scottish Premiership matches.
  • Hibernian looked to put their Hampden heartache against Aberdeen fully behind them, minutes away from claiming an impressive three points away to high-flying St Mirren in midweek. A point in Paisley isn't a bad result, given the Buddies' start to the season, but is perhaps made worse due to the frequency of draws recently. They've won just twice in Nick Montgomery's tenure so far.
  • Kilmarnock's solid home form continued last weekend, thanks to a sole-goal victory against an out-of-form Motherwell, but Hibernian are one of three teams to leave Rugby Park with something in the current campaign. Killie are one of two sides (alongside St Johnstone) yet to win in the Scottish Premiership on their travels so far this season, hoping to write those wrongs at Easter Road.
  • Despite Kilmarnock's strong recent form, their away struggles are apparent which could lead to a long-overdue win for the Hibees at home this weekend.
