Team News

Rangers
Hearts
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named two changes from the Gers hammering Hibs 4-0 at Ibrox last weekend, before they picked up a point in Prague thanks to a 0-0 draw away to Slavia in their Europa League match on Thursday night.
  • Borna Barisic is injured, and Ridvan Yilmaz is not in the European squad, so Ben Davies took the Croatian's place at left-back. Former Jambo John Souttar, Connor Goldson and James Tavernier completed the Rangers backline.
  • The only other change saw Scott Wright drop to the bench, with Todd Cantwell taking his place in the starting eleven. Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers continued in attack.
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made one enforced change after the Jambos were held at home in the Edinburgh derby in a 2-2 draw against Hibernian at Tynecastle, before they were thumped 4-1 at Tynecastle by Celtic last Sunday.
  • Stephen Kingsley limped off in the derby, but Alex Cochrane had returned to training and was then thrown straight in to start against Celtic at left-back. Frankie Kent, Kye Rowles and Toby Sibbick made up the Jambos' back four.
  • Aussie duo Calem Nieuwenhof and Cammy Devlin started in midfield. Alan Forrest, Kenneth Vargas and Rangers loanee Alex Lowry supported their main marksman Lawrence Shankland who ended en eight-game goal drought last time out.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's top four in the Scottish Premiership go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon, in a rehearsal of the Scottish League Cup semi-final, as Rangers host Hearts at Ibrox.
  • So far, so good for Rangers under Philippe Clement. A win, a draw and two clean sheets has resulted in a solid opening duo of games for the Belgian in the Ibrox hotseat. They've been unable to close the seven-point gap on leaders Celtic domestically, but are still firmly in the thick of it continentally. They'll be hoping the Hoops slip up in Edinburgh on Saturday, aiming to take advantage.
  • Hearts were swept aside with ease when Celtic came to Tynecastle last weekend. The month of October always looked grim for the Jambos, but their disappointing derby draw has been made worse by the fact that they've then played the top two. A point would be a welcome bonus, ahead of hosting Livingston in Gorgie on Wednesday and their semi-final against Rangers at Hampden.
  • Hearts claimed a point at Ibrox in May, but failed to score in their other three league defeats to Rangers last season. Despite the Gers playing away in Europe on Thursday, they should comfortably beat the out-of-form Jambos here.
