Team News

Kilmarnock
Hibernian
  • Derek McInnes named one change to the Kilmarnock team that fell to a 2-1 defeat to Motherwell at Fir Park, before they lost their last Scottish Premiership match at Rugby Park 1-0 to Ross County prior to the international break.
  • Robbie Deas, Stuart Findlay and Lewis Mayo continued at the back. Left wing-back Tom Davies made his Killie debut at Corrie Ndaba's expense. Danny Armstrong on the other flank had a penalty saved against the Staggies.
  • There was no place in the matchday squad for star striker and club captain Kyle Vassell. Andrew Dallas was sat amongst the substitutes after joining Killie on loan from Barnsley.
  • Nick Montgomery takes charge of Hibernian for the first time, after leaving Australian club Central Coast Mariners to take the reigns at Easter Road. David Gray made three changes as Hibs got over the Aston Villa loss with a win in Aberdeen.
  • Will Fish entered the Hibees' defence - replacing Rocky Bushiri - to join Lewis Stevenson, Paul Hanlon and Lewis Miller in the back four. Jordan Obita is injured, and made way for Hibs' talisman Martin Boyle to return.
  • The Australian international and Élie Youan started on the right and left flank respectively, supporting lone striker Dylan Vente. Attacking duo Adam Le Fondre and Christian Doidge came off the bench to score at Pittodrie so could start here.

Prediction

  • Both Kilmarnock and Hibernian have won just one of their opening four Scottish Premiership matches this season.
  • Killie appeared to have got off to a perfect start after beating Rangers in Ayrshire on the opening day. A draw at Tynecastle against Hearts wasn't a bad result but they then knocked Celtic out of the Scottish League cup. Since the win against the reigning champions, they've lost two consecutive league matches to Motherwell and Ross County so will want to get back to winning ways.
  • A new era kicks off at Hibernian, looking to take advantage of their rivals' stuttering starts. Hearts and Aberdeen play one another at Tynecastle, so Hibs will want to claim a victory at Rugby Park whilst keeping an eye on proceedings in Gorgie and hoping to take advantage of at least one team's slip up. There's plenty of time for the Hibees to turn it around, and they'll hope to start here.
  • This game could honestly go either way given Killie beat Hibs at Rugby Park last season, but the Hibees emerged victorious in both Edinburgh meetings. The unpredictable nature of this match may suggest a share of the spoils is in the offing here.
