- Davie Martindale named two changes after Livi recorded a 2-0 win against Ayr United in the Scottish League Cup in West Lothian, before a wonderful win in the capital as they got the better of Hibernian 3-2 at Easter Road.
- Shamal George continued in goal with Mikey Devlin, Ayo Obileye and Luiyi de Lucas continuing as the Lions' back three. Jamie Brandon replaced the injured Cristian Montaño at right wing-back with James Penrice moving to the left.
- Scott Pittman was also handed a start, playing his part in the Lions' first goal. He joined Joel Nouble and Kurtis Guthrie in attack. Substitutes Mo Sangare and Bruce Anderson came off the bench to grab goals in Edinburgh and are pushing for starts.
- Stephen Robinson named just one change to the St Mirren side that booked their spot in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final thanks to a 1-0 win against Motherwell, before being held at home in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Aberdeen.
- The Buddies are still without club captain Mark O'Hara, their influential midfielder who was named their Player of the Year last season, along with long-term absentee and star striker Jonah Ayunga.
- The only alteration from the Motherwell match saw former Well frontman Mikael Mandron make way for Toyosi Olusanya to start as Saints' sole striker. He was supported by Greg Kiltie and Conor McMenamin in attack.
