Team News

Kilmarnock
Aberdeen
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named two changes to the Killie team that fell to a 3-1 defeat to league leaders Celtic at Parkhead, before they bounced back with a win against Livingston by the same scoreline.
  • Robbie Deas dropped out of defence last Saturday, as Liam Polworth joined Brad Lyons and David Watson in midfield. Danny Armstrong moved out to the right hand side of midfield as Lewis Mayo slotted in at centre back.
  • Matty Kennedy settled for a spot amongst the substitutes, joined by Rory McKenzie and Liam Donnelly after their injury layoffs. Marley Watkins joined Kyle Vassell, who bagged a brace against Livingston, in attack.
  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named two changes to the team that was held at home in a goalless stalemate with St Johnstone before the international break, before their late European heartbreak on Thursday night.
  • Jack MacKenzie replaced Jonny Hayes to start at left wing-back. Nicky Devlin occupied the right hand side of the Dons defence, alongside the three central defenders of Richard Jensen, Slobodan Rubezic and Stefan Gartenmann.
  • The only other alteration saw Duk start from the bench, he was replaced by Dante Polvara who netted Aberdeen's second goal as they went 2-0 up on the night before a late collapse saw them lose to PAOK 3-2 at Pittodrie.

Prediction

  • Kilmarnock and Aberdeen are a point apart, with the hosts in fifth and the visitors in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership table, heading into this weekend's action.
  • It was a vital victory for Kilmarnock last time out, clinching their first league victory since the opening day of the season against Rangers. Their only other victory since the 5th of August was eliminating holders Celtic from the Scottish League Cup. These games are reminders that Killie can compete with the best in the division, so should have nothing to fear.
  • Aberdeen's continental capitulation in midweek must be put firmly behind them as soon as possible. Their only two Scottish Premiership wins so far this season both came in the month of September, a 4-0 thumping of Ross County at Pittodrie and their wonderful 3-1 win at Ibrox against Rangers. A win here would be pivotal, to not lose ground domestically.
  • Aberdeen got the better of Kilmarnock at Pittodrie twice last season but did lose to Killie at Rugby Park. A win for either side wouldn't be surprising but a point apiece isn't the worst result either.
