Team News

Kilmarnock
Ross County
  • Derek McInnes named one enforced change to the Kilmarnock team that knocked holders Celtic out of the Scottish League Cup with a 1-0 victory at Rugby Park, before falling to a 2-1 defeat to Motherwell at Fir Park at the weekend.
  • Corrie Ndaba, the Ipswich Town loanee, has been ruled out through injury. Matty Kennedy took his place at left-wing back, with Danny Armstrong on the right hand side in an attack-minded Killie eleven.
  • Brad Lyons, Kyle Magennis and David Watson continued at the heart of midfield. Club captain Kyle Vassell returned to the starting eleven, partnering Marley Watkins - who fired Killie in front against Motherwell - in attack.
  • Malky Mackay named just one change to the Staggies side which eventually advanced in the Scottish League Cup thanks to a 4-3 victory against Airdrie after extra time, before a 2-0 defeat in Dingwall to Rangers last Saturday.
  • County named an unchanged back four of George Harmon, Ryan Leak, Jack Baldwin and James Brown in front of Ross Laidlaw in goal. Josh Sims, Victor Loturi and Connor Randall continued in midfield.
  • The only alteration saw Yan Dhanda return, for Kyle Turner to drop to the bench. Simon Murray and Jordan White continued in attack as the Staggies opted for a traditional 4-4-2.

Prediction

  • Kilmarnock have taken four points from their opening three Scottish Premiership matches, up against a Ross County side that have taken three points from as many league games.
  • The previously all-conquering Killie were brought back down to earth, with a 2-1 defeat at Fir Park which brought an end to an otherwise superb start to the season. They'll want to get back to winning ways after victories over Rangers and Celtic alongside a draw away to Hearts, all while keeping three consecutive clean sheets, had the fans encouraged as to what they could achieve.
  • Ross County have got two league games against last season's top two out of the way, winning their other league match against St Johnstone, so will fancy picking up more points in fixtures to come. They head to East Ayrshire confident that they could spring a surprise on a usually defensively solid Killie side, despite failing to find the back of the net against Rangers last time out.
  • Killie won both league meetings at Rugby Park last season, with County winning both matches in Dingwall, and the hosts will want to return to winning ways in this one by hook or by crook.
